Health system financing
Oeconomia is committed to contributing to progress towards universal health coverage (UHC), because we believe that everyone has the right to access quality health services when needed, without being exposed to financial hardship. Oeconomia supports the design and implementation of health financing strategies to move towards UHC and helps to identify and address issues related to financing. Our team has extensive experience in health financing mechanisms including result‐based financing, free health care initiatives, health insurance, health vouchers etc.
Economic analysis
Economic analysis is a valuable tool for decision-makers in governments, partners and organisations in a context of limited resources and the necessity to use these resources efficiently. The economic evaluation consists of comparing two (or more) strategies or interventions in terms of both their costs and consequences. Oeconomia conducts economic evaluations at the health facility, intervention, programme and policy levels: cost studies, cost-effectiveness analyses, cost-utility and cost-benefit analyses. Oeconomia pays particular attention to study results and operational recommendations.
Project management
The project approach remains the preferred choice for technical and financial partners in the health sector (NGO, foundations, development agencies). Oeconomia assists partners in designing and implementing relevant, effective, efficient and sustainable interventions that contribute to improving health. Oeconomia also has experience designing monitoring systems and conducting mid- or end-term evaluations of projects in the health sector.
Hospital management
Oeconomia provides technical assistance to hospitals (from first referral to the national referral hospitals) intending to enhance administrative and financial management. Oeconomia offers a range of services related to hospital management: organisational audit, assessment of operations and financial management, revision of the pricing system, setup of a per-case payment mechanism, financial analysis, budget development and follow-up, estimation of staffing needs, information system etc.
Survey and Operational research
We have the expertise to manage or support our clients to design and implement studies using both quantitative and qualitative methods (surveys, interviews, focus groups, etc.) in the field of health economics in a broad sense (studies on barriers for accessing healthcare services, willingness and capacity to pay, identification and selection of indigents, etc.)
