The JAM Project – Juntos pelo Acesso aos Medicamentos (together for the access to medicines in Portugese) aims to improve the access to treatment in tete province. It therefore benefits to the patients, the community and the health facilities. The project, implemented by MSF for many years, consists of empowering patients and communities on their rights and to report the lack of access to medicines via a free telecommunication line.
Oeconomia provided technical expertise during 2 missions in tete to conduct economic evaluations of the JAM project. OE implemented 1) a cost-effectiveness analysis of models for monitoring the access to treatment, and 2) statistical régressions between be patient empowerment activities and the reporting of cases of lack of access to medicines.
The mission was conducted on behalf of the European Agency for Development and Health (AEDES) in the frame of a contract with MSF.
